Grammar note 语法点

不 tone change before 4th tone — negation sandhi

不 is normally pronounced bù, but before a 4th-tone syllable it changes to bú for smoother speech: 不大 (bú dà), 不太 (bú tài).

我们的教室不大。— Our classroom isn't big.
在 + place — location marker

在 marks where something or someone is located, usually placed right before the place word: 老师站在黑板前面 = 'the teacher stands in front of the blackboard.'

老师站在黑板前面。— The teacher stands in front of the blackboard.
的时候 — 'when ~'

Verb/clause + 的时候 means 'when ~ happens': 下课的时候 = 'when class is over.'

下课的时候,同学们喜欢说话。— When class is over, my classmates like to talk.
