无偿献血 Unpaid Blood Donation

老张Lǎo Zhāng是shì一yí位wèi出租车chūzūchē司机sījī，今年jīnnián五十八wǔshíbā岁suì，已经yǐjīng无偿wúcháng献血xiànxuè二十èrshí多duō年nián了le。

Old Zhang is a taxi driver; he is fifty-eight this year and has already been donating blood for free for more than twenty years.

他tā第一次dì-yī cì献血xiànxuè，是shì二十六èrshíliù岁suì那nà年nián，在zài街上jiēshang看到kàndào献血车xiànxuèchē，好奇hàoqí地de走zǒu了le进去jìnqù。

The first time he donated blood was the year he was twenty-six — he saw a blood donation van on the street and curiously walked in.

护士hùshi说shuō，他tā的de血型xuèxíng是shìO型O xíng，可以kěyǐ输给shūgěi几乎jīhū所有suǒyǒu病人bìngrén，这zhè让ràng他tā觉得juéde特别tèbié有意义yǒu yìyì。

The nurse said his blood type is O, which can be given to almost any patient — this made him feel it was especially meaningful.

从cóng那nà以后yǐhòu，老张Lǎo Zhāng每měi隔gé几jǐ个ge月yuè就jiù去qù献xiàn一yí次cì血xuè，二十èrshí多duō年nián下来xiàlái，一yí共gòng献xiàn了le将近jiāngjìn八十bāshí次cì。

From then on, Old Zhang went to donate blood every few months; over more than twenty years, he has donated close to eighty times in total.

有人yǒurén问wèn他tā：“献血xiànxuè对duì身体shēntǐ不bú是shì有yǒu影响yǐngxiǎng吗ma？”老张Lǎo Zhāng说shuō，只要zhǐyào按àn规定guīdìng的de时间shíjiān和hé数量shùliàng献血xiànxuè，对duì健康jiànkāng就jiù没有méiyǒu坏处huàichù。

Someone asked him: "Doesn't donating blood affect your health?" Old Zhang said as long as you donate according to the regulated time and amount, there's no harm to your health.

他tā还hái说shuō，每次měicì抽血chōuxiě前qián，护士hùshi都dōu会huì检查jiǎnchá身体shēntǐ，不合格bù hégé是shì不会búhuì让ràng你nǐ献xiàn的de。

He also said that before every blood draw, the nurse checks your body — if you don't meet the standard, they simply won't let you donate.

老张Lǎo Zhāng的de血xuè，已经yǐjīng帮助bāngzhù了le很多hěnduō素不相识sù bù xiāngshí的de病人bìngrén和hé产妇chǎnfù，他tā自己zìjǐ却què从来cónglái没有méiyǒu见过jiànguò他们tāmen。

Old Zhang's blood has already helped many complete strangers — patients and new mothers — yet he himself has never once met them.

他tā说shuō：“我wǒ不bù知道zhīdào我wǒ的de血xuè救jiù了le谁shéi，但是dànshì想到xiǎngdào有人yǒurén因为yīnwèi这zhè袋dài血xuè活下来huó xiàlái，就jiù觉得juéde值得zhíde。”

He said: "I don't know whose life my blood saved, but when I think that someone survived because of that bag of blood, I feel it's worth it."

现在xiànzài，他tā的de儿子érzi也yě跟着gēnzhe他tā一起yìqǐ，每年měinián去qù献血车xiànxuèchē献血xiànxuè。

Now his son also goes together with him, donating blood at the blood donation van every year.
