What is the difference between 有点儿 and 一点儿?
有点儿 goes before an adjective or verb and usually signals something slightly unwelcome: 有点儿贵, 有点儿累. 一点儿 goes after an adjective to compare or ask for a change (便宜一点儿, 快一点儿), or before a noun for a small amount (喝一点儿水). So a shopper says 有点儿贵,能便宜一点儿吗?
| 有点儿 | before adj / verb, often negative: 今天有点儿冷 |
|---|---|
| 一点儿 | after adj to compare: 大一点儿; before a noun: 一点儿钱 |
